The War of Art: Book Review

The War of Art by Steven Pressfield was recommended to me by another creator and talented friend. If I could rate the first half of this book I would give it 5 stars because I could relate to it on so many levels. Resistance! Why do we let resistance bully us? Why do we let fear and other distractions throw us off course? The author really got me on a lot of these. The second half of the book didn’t resonate with me as well. He began talking about our muse and angels, which moved further away from being in charge of our own destiny in some ways. At least, that is how I read it. I had a hard time following the second part of this book through the ending sealed the deal for me. I must create! I am a creator. I think different people would get value in areas I did not. As with any self-help style book. Read it, take what feels good, move beyond what isn’t. It is well written, funny, upbeat, positive, and to the point. Good read overall.

I’ll be posting a few of my favorite lessons over the next few weeks. I hope you’ll discuss with me.

  1. This book was recommended to me a few years back by a colleague. It has remained unopened upon my shelf, but your post has inspired me to make it my next read. Thanks! And best of luck on your creative journey.
