The Life of Pi

I haven’t been reading as much as I would like. The stay at home orders put in place a few months ago have altered my sleeping, eating, and normal routine. I’m having a hard time getting back into things but I’m trying to put myself to bed sooner to read more. We all read before bed, right? It’s the quietest hour in the house.

The Life of Pi was a fantastic book I read about three years ago. Pi is a likable character I was instantly drawn to. His family set sail to cross the ocean with their zoo animals. Sadly, the boat sinks and Pi is stranded on a life boat with several animals. The fiercest being a huge tiger. The story takes us through their tremendous adventure to find food, shelter, fresh water, and land. It’s not a peaceful tale. There are grotesque scenes that were hard to forget, most happening just after the ship sinks. More so we see his strength and courage, which I was very drawn to. This story is calling me because it felt BIG. I’m stuck in my house most hours of the day. Pi survives his ordeal. He fights against the ocean and fate, never giving up. I was inspired by this book and still am today.

Have you read it? If so, what did you think about the ending? Did it really happen the way the story shows us? What is the best adventure book you’ve read?
